Believe it or not, a Blawnox café owner is giddy at the idea of giving away three months of meals.
That feeling, Clean Eatz owner Darryl Duncan said, is surpassed only by the possibility of also doling out $25,000.
Duncan will launch the “We Change Livez Challenge” in March through which participants are encouraged to share stories of their healthy eating journeys through social media. The contest runs through April, with winners announced in May.
Meal winners will be entered into a separate competition to receive a grand prize of $25,000.
“The ‘We Change Livez Challenge’ is our way of supporting and energizing our customers and encouraging those yet on the fence,” Duncan said.
“Whether someone is looking to lose weight, improve their health and fitness or simply take advantage of the convenience, they all can participate and be encouragement for others along their journeys.”
Clean Eatz is a national franchise, and operates locally in the retail plaza at 175 Freeport Rd.
The diner opened in November and offers health-conscious meals prepared for people who still have appetites for burgers and sandwiches. The site also offers meal plans and grab-and-go salads and cauliflower-crust pizzas.
With 70-plus cafés open nationwide, Duncan said Clean Eatz continues to grow its footprint and following.
Franchise co-founder Evonne Varady said this is the fifth year for the competition and she is continually excited by the stories it sparks from customers.
“It’s not about changing overnight, it’s about giving yourself a chance and inspiring others along the way,” Varady said.
Before Duncan even opened his doors at the Blawnox locale, he raffled off a meal plan to get customers excited about the opening.
Riverview High School football coach and Oakmont resident Trevor George won — and got to stock his fridge with six months worth of healthy food.
Duncan said he would very much love for this year’s $25,000 prize winner to come from the Steel City.
Anyone interested can sign up online at or by stopping at the restaurant.
Participants can share their efforts on Facebook and Instagram with the tag #wechangelivez.
